Advocacy for State-Operated Programs
The Arc New York’s Developmental Center Chapters have a long history of advocacy for New Yorkers with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
These Chapters were originally established to provide oversight for state-run Developmental Centers and advocacy for the people residing in them. Following the fight for deinstitutionalization and the closure of New York’s Developmental Centers, these Chapters continue to support and advocate for people served in state-operated programs.
The Arc New York Advocacy and Oversight Workgroup and Developmental Center Chapters collaborate to represent the interests of people supported by State-operated programs, and maintain an ongoing liaison partnership with OPWDD.
