Our Vision
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) come from all ethnic and racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic statuses, and religions.
Our vision is for The Arc to be a diverse and culturally competent organization, capable of serving people with I/DD and their families in an increasingly diverse, multicultural society. Our boards of directors, executives, and staff are composed of individuals who are representative of the diversity that exists in the communities they serve. Our advocacy, programs, services, and supports are relevant and accessible to persons of different races, ethnicities, and other dimensions of diversity. We are leading the way promoting diversity and cultural competence among organizations that serve people with disabilities and their families, in the disability community and in the larger nonprofit sector.
If you have any questions, comments, or feedback about the accessibility of our website or any of the The Arc’s products, services, or events, please email inclusion@thearc.org.
Diversity Annual Report
2019
In order to ensure no one is left behind, we must examine our organizational programs and policies to achieve our mission of actively supporting the full inclusion and participation of people with I/DD in the community throughout their lifetimes. Our Diversity Annual Reports demonstrate the commitment The Arc has to diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence by tracking the progress we are making on our journey.
Diversity Strategic Action Plan
2016 – 2020
This plan renews The Arc’s commitment to our chapters, our members, the I/DD community and their families, and the public to ensure that ALL communities view The Arc as responsive to their needs.
